This week has been a difficult week. I was told by our IT team that the things I want to use to help my students won't be working for awhile, maybe a year. I knew that I need to be patient but a year seems extreme. At first I was sad that the IT team told me I was expecting too much and I had too high of expectations. However, as the day went on I became very upset. These are some of the many reasons why:
- As teachers we don't get a year to get things working correctly when something new comes a long. It is more like 5 minutes.
- Our students don't have a year to wait. My students need help with reading now. The further behind they fall the harder it is for them to catch up.
- As teachers we don't get to say that parents or administrators have too high of demands or high expectations for us.
Fellow teachers, what would you do? Are others stuck in a place like this?
