Blendspace

I have been trying to use Blendspace for some time in my district.  We continue to have the conversation about it being safe.
Here is an example I created for Animal Reports
I agree that when students can view YouTube videos that issues can come up.  However, shouldn't we teach students about doing the right thing when they view something inappropriate?  I want to always keep my students safe, however, I know that no matter what filter is being used that life happens.  I want my students to know what to do in situations.  They are growing up in a world that will always have to make choices.  I am interested in what you all think.  Do you Blendspace?  If so, how does it work for you?

Sight Word Practice

Sight words are essential in helping students progress in reading. However, it is not always easy to mange students at different levels. We have tried flashcards. It works for many students but not all. Especially the students who don't have a lot of parental support. I have been trying to use these screen casts of the virtual flashcards with my families.Click here to view.

Learning Cafe

The school year is swinging into high gear.  We just had our Learning Cafe.  It was a night that we can share with parents how we are teaching and how they can support learning at home.
We made screen casts that will help parents use the iPads at home.  We also made Google docs that explain it to.
Here are the examples:

It was the first time I used this format.  It was great for the parents who could attend.  I was then able to share the videos and docs with parents via email who couldn't attend.
